  • Nurturing Mother's Day Skin Dusting Powder

After enjoying a relaxing bath or shower, indulge your body by smoothing on a homemade talc-free skin dusting powder, featuring simple ingredients and pretty floral scents for soft, glowing skin.

This skin dusting powder is made with arrowroot, a culinary ingredient found in most grocery stores, making this dusting powder as economical as it is revitalising. Arrowroot is a natural and toxin-free alternative to talcum powder, and can be used as a traditional baby powder.

This recipe is scented with the relaxing aromas of rose, lavender and orris root.

Its best applied to the skin after bathing using a powder puff or brush (we like to use a Kabuki Brush).

This DIY makes for a gorgeous and luxurious natural Mother's Day gift.

    What you will need:

    • 30g dried orris root* powder (can be omitted if you can't get your hands on it, just supplement with more Arrowroot powder)
    • 120g Arrowroot powder
    • 5-6 drop of pure rose essential oil ( I know I know this is an expensive oil so if you don't have it, you can swap out for any other lovely floral or sweet smelling oil like Geranium)
    • 5-6 drops of pure lavender essential oil
    • Dried lavender and/ or rose petals (optional, but oh so pretty!)
    • 175ml amber glass jar or if you want a larger volume, times the recipe by 3 and store in our beautiful 500ml amber glass jar.

    * Orris Root is considered to have a positive effect on the moisture content of the skin. Mildly refreshing and astringent, it regulates moisture exchange in the skin which helps the skin to rid itself of dead particles and other toxins.

    Method:

    1. Combine arrowroot, orris powder, essential oils and dried floral leaves (that have been crushed with a mortar & pestle or whizzed in the food processor for a couple of seconds)
    2. Stir well with a wooden spoon until all blended thoroughly
    3. Stored in one of our amber glass jars, your skin dusting powder can be kept for four to six weeks at room temperature without loosing it's fragrance.
