    Nourishing Lime and Vanilla Bean Lip Balm

    Nourishing Lime and Vanilla Bean Lip Balm
    This lip balm smells divine! It is sweet and smooth and may be just what your lips need this winter.  We especially love this simple 3 step recipe as it takes less than 10 minutes to make. Please note that lime essential oil is photo toxic and care must be taken with sun exposure, we recommend choosing a steam distilled essential oil as they do not carry photo toxic properties. 
    This recipe makes one 30ml jar for you and one for a friend.
    What you will need:
    • 1 Tablespoons Beeswax*
    • 3 1/2 Tablespoons fractionated coconut oil
    • 2½ teaspoons Shea Butter
    • 5 drops Vitamin E Oil
    • 4-5 drops Lime pure essential oil (steam distilled if possible) 
    • 1 Vanilla Pod or 1/2 teaspoon good quality vanilla essence
    • 2 x 30ml amber glass balm jars

    Method:

    1. Set a glass measuring cup (or recycled jam jar in my case) into a sauce pan with an inch of water in it to create a double boiler. Melt the wax, coconut oil and shea butter in the jar over medium heat.

    2. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the Vitamin E, essential oils and vanilla.

    3. Carefully pour into your clean jars and leave to cool and set.
