Aroma Botanics Hair & Body Bars FAQ's

Not much product is coming off into my hand/ hair, what can I do?
When your use your shampoo and conditioner bar for the very first time only, we suggest holding it under warm water or soaking your bars in a class of water for a few moments just to get things softened up a little. This is only required on your first usage. Please note that only a little amount is required to be effective.

Do I need a lot of bubbles/ lather to clean properly?
No, lather is inconsequential to how cleansing a product is. Bubbles are commonly created using Sulfates which is why they are used in so many products, like shampoo and toothpaste. - however they are no good for us!

These bubbles make no difference to how easily dirt and oil is removed, but they can help a little with spreading the product around your face or scalp.

But really, we are just conditioned to expect bubbles, and to link bubbles to cleanliness, so let's just get used to less bubbles and leave the irritants out of the products we use on our bodies and on our children's bodies.

That little bar seems expensive, is it good value for money?
These little bars may seem more expensive than other shampoos but in reality, they aren’t. Each bar of shampoo (and conditioner) lasts for an average of 50 washes . Our bars are packed full of concentrated, high quality natural ingredients, so a little goes a long way. If you keep your bars dry in between washes they will serve you well with lots and lots of washes. Read on below for how to store your bars. Plus, what price can you put on your health and the health of the planet?

How do I use the shampoo bar?
Lather the shampoo bar between your hands in the shower, gently massage thoroughly through damp hair and rinse.

Please note, some people will need a transition period (and others will not), this period is just while your hair goes through a detox from bottled and/or unnatural product.

How do I use the conditioner bar?
Warm conditioner bar slightly in your hards and apply directly to your hair. Gently massage through to the ends of your hair and leave for a few minutes and then rinse. Repeat if required.

How do I use the body balm bar?
Simply rub the balm on warm skin and massage in well. Store in a cool place, we recommend our Aroma Botanics Bar tins for the perfect storage solution.

How do I store my bars and why is it important?
Don’t hold the bar under water during every usage, or leave it wet or in pooled water, it will dissolve much faster and you won't get as many uses from it as anticipated. This is how we store our Aroma Botanics bars:

Wet areas - in tins, on the wire rack or ledge in the shower, on a wash cloth or in a soap bag.

Out of the shower - cute little dishes from the op-shop, wrapped in bees-wax wraps, tins or recycled jam jars. Make sure balm bars are kept in a nice cool place so they don't melt!

What ingredients are in your bars?
Please refer to each product for ingredient listing.

How do I tell which bar is which?
Our body wash has flecks of coconut husk through it that you can see, our shampoo bar is white and creamy, our conditioner bar has a green tint to it from the green clay included in it.

Are your bars cruelty-free and vegan?
Yes and yes! Naturally derived, plant-based ingredients do a far superior job, with none of the harm so this plus the obvious reasons, why we wouldn't they be!

Why is soap-free and pH balanced important for my hair?
Many solid shampoo bars on the market are actually soaps, but don’t be fooled. If you see any of the following substances in the ingredients list, you’re actually using a soap bar:

  • Sodium Cocoate
  • Sodium Olivate
  • Sodium Castorate
  • Sodium Hydroxide

Soap-based shampoo bars are out of balance with the natural pH of your hair. It’s harsh and unhealthy for it and can strip away essential natural oils to leave it feeling dull and rough.

Rest assured our bars will leave your hair healthy and feeling clean as they are soap-free and pH balanced.

Detoxing your hair takes a little time!

If you are making the switch from everyday shampoo and conditioner to natural shampoo and conditioner bars your hair may take a few washes to detox and get used to the switch. When your locks have been relying on silicone to make them smooth and shiny you will probably notice a difference when you make the change. With continued use the natural oils in your hair will be nurtured naturally, feeling and looking healthier with each wash.
