  • Coffee Bean Grounding Massage Bars

If Dad loves coffee and is partial to a back or foot massage, these could just be the last minute Father's Day gift you're looking for. They smell like a warm cup and melt away when rubbed leaving the skin well moisturised.

    What you will need:

    • 65 g beeswax
    • 65 g grape seed oil
    • 90 g cocoa butter
    • 2 tbsp roasted coffee beans
    • 10 drops of pure cedarwood essential oil
    • Silicone mold

    Method:

    1. Using a double boiler method, add all beeswax, grape seed oil and cocoa butter to your small saucepan or heat proof dish.
    2. Add 2 tablespoons of roasted coffee beans evenly between your silicon molds (this recipe makes approx. 4 oval soap shaped bars).
    3. Stir the ingredients until they have all melted together.
    4. Pour the ingredients into the silicone mold, dividing the contents equally.
    5. Leave the massage bars undisturbed until they are set. If you are making them in a warm room, move the silicone tray into the fridge to firm up.

Storage note: you may want to leave these bars in the fridge when not in usage, for cooler climates they are fine to leave out.

  • Antiviral Lemon Balm Lip Salve

A simple natural salve to nourish the lips with antiviral properties to help fight the dreaded coldsore.

    What you will need:

    • 8g extra virgin coconut oil
    • 12g grapeseed oil
    • 6g beeswax
    • 4g raw cocoa butter
    • 10 drops of pure Lemon Balm essential Oil (Melissa)

    Method:

    1. Melt the wax, over medium-low heat in a Turkish coffee pot, double boiler, or a small pot with a pour spout. Add the oils and butter when the wax is liquefied and melt all of the ingredients together.
    2. Stir constantly and keep a watchful eye on the oils. You want them to just reach the melting point and not overheat.
    3. Fill jar halfway full and let cool slightly. This will set the bottom of the jar so that a hole doesn’t form in the top of the lip balm when cooled.
    4. Before the jar is starting to set, fill the rest of the way, so there is a convex curve on the top (be careful not to spill over the edges). When the lip balm cools, it will shrink so it should end up having a flat top.

    Makes 1 x  30g jar of balm.

  • The Benefits of Dry Brushing

Unlike using body scrubs, shower brushes or sea sponges, dry brushing does more than just exfoliate our skin. Dry brushing increasing circulation  and stimulates the lymphatic system. Dry brushing your body for a few minutes a day or even just a couple of times a week can reach past the skin surface helping to detox the body

To dry brush, begin at your feet with light pressure moving a in small circular motion. Brush in upwards strokes towards the heart,  moving the lymphatic flow towards the lymph ducts. Move up the legs past the ankles, calves, thighs and buttocks moving slowly with firm pressure. Brush up the abdomen towards the heart being cautious of any sensitive areas. The upper chest, back and décolletage is brushed downwards towards the heart. Finally work the brush up each of the arms front and back towards the shoulder.

We then choose to swap tools and complete the face with a face roller.

We hope you can find a little time to treat your body to the detoxing benefits of dry brushing.
